ARIADNE GREIF is a soprano with a voracious appetite for all kinds of music; she is an opera singer and a recitalist, has a background in the baroque scene, works with a lot of living composers, and has an all-consuming passion for Bel Canto.
Maybe you caught her “Ms. Greif’s raw, no-holds-barred performance" this June in ATTHIS, by Georg Friedrich Haas, at KITCHEN in NY with OPERA CABAL. The New York Times called it “one of the most searingly painful and revealing operatic performances in recent times.”
Did you hear her singing the soprano solos in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 this September? Or perhaps you caught her "elastic and round high notes" at DREAMS & NIGHTMARES the week before?
Other recent projects included a successful run as the title role in POULENC's LES MAMMELLES DE TIRESIAS with ALDEBURGH MUSIC and the BRITTEN-PEARS YOUNG ARTIST PROGRAMME in the UK, for which she received some pretty glowing CRITICAL ACCLAIM.
Ariadne made her debut with the AMERICAN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA singing the LUTOSLAWSKI song-cycle Chantefleurs et Chantefables and her CARNEGIE HALL debut as a part of the Upshaw-Golijov Composer/Singer Workshop, premiering SONGS AT THE WELL composed for her by ELENA LANGER.
She sang the title role in RAVEL's L'enfant et les sortileges, Ivona in JEFF MYERS' new opera The Hunger Art, and "floated on stage, now sister, now seductress, now ghoul" in the role of Madeline in the unfinished DEBUSSY opera La chute de la Maison Usher with the OPERA FRANCAIS DE NEW YORK, among other things.
