Liv Heym was born in Berlin, Germany. She studied the violin with Heinz Dinter, Karina Koorevar and Eberhard Feltz before she was accepted into Ulrike-Anima Mathé‘s studio at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold in 2002. She graduated with a Pedagogical and an Artist Diploma. Since September 2008 she has been a student of Daniel Phillips at Mannes College of Music. Chamber music lessons with Eberhard Feltz and Hans Klaus as well as masterclasses with Andràs Schiff, Bruno Canino, Jürgend Kussmaul, Philippe Graffin and Mi-Kyung Lee have had a major influence on her musical direction. Liv has participated in various Youth Orchestras in Europe working with conductors like Vladimir Ashkenazy, Philippe Herreweghe and Lothar Zagrosek. In 2007 she worked as a substitute at the Bochum Symphony Orchestra. Her main interests lie in chamber music and historical performance practice. Liv was member of the Baroque Academy of the HfM Detmold since its formation in 2003 and performed works by J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel under the artistic direction of Ulrike-Anima Mathé and Gerhard Weinberger. In June 2008 she appeared as a soloist with the Baroque Academy in the performance of the Brandenburg Concertos by J.S. Bach.
